Now I've got a list. I feel like I'm far enough along to write a list of what needs to be finished to make sure I don't forget anything. Last weekend and a couple of evenings this week mean that I've got all the engine electrical connections sorted (I hope!) and all of the pipes for the running and balancing, got the starter motor connected and all of the belts done.
My list is :- pin for shift selector, connect exhaust, adjust a/c pump, connect fuel pipes, connect & adjust kick-down cable, fit radiator & fill, check fluids, re-fit distributor, re-check wires etc for clearances.

Work restarts again with the aim of having it running and then getting it on the road by the end of the summer. I'm leaving the interior alone right now and concentrating on the running part of things. I managed to grab an hour today to fix in the drive selector and drive indicators.

Everything basically grinds to a halt now until next year; that garage isn't heated and it's too cold to go and work out there for anything longer than half an hour.

Gearbox mounts installed, engine in situ and bolted to gearbox. It all went unexpectedly easily - we had to use the engine lift fron the side because of the clearance on the garage door, but it all went in rather easily - a bit worrying really.

Gearbox and transfer case in and connected to the driveshafts.

25/08/06

Engine built. I pre-assembled the engine to work out where everything went - then stripped it back down and reassembled properly with gaskets and tightened/torqued the bolts.

All the ancillary fittings are now cleaned and where relevant sprayed and lubricated. Re-sprayed the front, cleaned the bumper and sprayed and the grill. Front Shocks fitted.

Gearbox has arrived - awaiting the engine about another week. Started to clean and renovate the interior, dashboard has been refitted with aftermarked gauges for oil pressure & temp, water temp and amps. New headlights arrived and new shocks.

Decision made to order new engine and gearbox from the States. It's going to cost about $3000 but at least I'm sure where I am. I get a complete engine less covers and a gearbox (the geabox had a problem with the step-down anyway!) New rear light cluster, front indicator lights and chrome air filer purchased.

Engine out and stripped which exposes the reality that this block is also cracked around both of the center head bolt channels - probably was run overheating!

20/07/06

Almost out with the engine, I've had to jack the body up and wedge it with wooden blocks to be able to get to the bolts holding the engine to the gearbox. All of the ancillaries are now removed - I think.

After a year finally back at this, after some house renovations the birth of a daughter and some more renovations I've got a bit of time available. I bought some rear lights from e-bay and the paint for the engine.

05/08/05

Taken off the bonnet and made a start on removing some of ancillary bits.

18/05/05

Now I really have to get going as the mini's going to be in the garage too! The plan is to move the crank, bearings con rods and oil pump from engine A to B and use the block and pistons from engine B.

12/05/05

The old engine is out and inspected, the blocked cracked right at the top so no way to fix it.

30/02/05

Got round to moving it into the garage after having cleared some snow out of the way and using the Explorer to tow it.

23/02/05

Blazer to be delivered home now. Just need to work out where to put it and how and then wait for a couple of months. (BTW –12o outside)

30/11/04

Off to Motorcentrun in Uppsala, with lots of water!

22/11/04

Started the car up this morning after -16 last night but steam started gushing out of the engine! Suspect that the block froze! Got back this evening to chek it out and yep sure enough a water leak from the block but the core plugs are OK - I suspect that the head gasket has gone. I don't fancy fixing it in this weather so I'll have to find somewhere to take it.

21/11/04

Train from Stockholm to Gothenberg and then drive 450km back. After some hassle, train was late and then actually finding where I was supposed to go at the post managed to leave at 13:00 and back home at 20:00.

18/11/04

Arrives in Gothenberg on Saturday, but I'm at a wedding in Gavle.

17/11/04

Blazer picked up from the garage in Wiltshire and taken to Harwich.
